Towing Requirements for a Deckover Trailer
Make sure your truck can handle the load. Here's our recommendation based on towing capacity and trailer weight.
Both our 20 ft and 25 ft deckover trailers carry a GVWR of 15,400 lbs, so your tow vehicle needs to be rated to handle that load, typically a 3/4-ton or 1-ton pickup with a proper towing package. A brake controller is required for every rental, since both trailers use electric brakes to safely stop that weight.
You’ll also need the correct hitch and ball size for your setup, along with a weight distribution hitch if you’re hauling near the trailer’s GVWR. Because a deckover sits lower than a standard bumper-pull flatdeck, loading heavier items toward the front helps keep your tow vehicle balanced and stable on the road.
